Fourth round of the one-make series scheduled on the weekend of July 29-30 on the historic Belgian circuit
Debut of Frank Biela, multiple winner at Le Mans and DTM champion
Eleven Lamborghini Huracán GT3s at the start of the concomitant 24 Hours of the Blancpain Endurance Cup
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe grid reaches 50 cars, many will be the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeos, at the start of the fourth round of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, thecircuit which will host the prestigious 24Hour Race of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe is a popular series with the largest number of participants in the world, ranging from young to more experienced drivers;. The entry list features many important names, such as the one of theFrank Biela (five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a DTM title and other successes spice up his prize list), who will debut with the team Dörr Motorsport on the over seven-kilometer-long track in the Ardennes and will share the car with his younger teammate Arne Hoffmeister.
From the “stars” to the real protagonists of a fight more open than ever in all four classes. Starting from the PRO one, which in the previous round at Paul Ricard celebrated the double win of Dennis Lind (a total of three pole positions and four victories since the beginning of the season). The twenty-three-year-old Dane is now leading the standings. The Italian Vito Postiglione (a victory at Silverstone with Imperiale Racing) is only nine points behind him and has four points of advantage over the Croatian Martin Kodric, who is determined not to stop the sequence of podiums, after scoring three third places and a second one in the last four races, with the colors of Bonaldi Motorsport. But the Latvian Harald Schlegelmilch (Artline Team Georgia) is also lying in wait, after scoring a pole position, one second and two third places respectively, whereas the pairing formed by Nicola De Marco and Fabrizio Del Monte (Orange 1 Team Lazarus) aims at getting the top positions as it did during its debut at Monza.
In the PRO-AM class, only one point separates the 18-year-old Dutchman Rik Breukers (GDL Racing) from the leaders Adrian Amstutz and the reigning PRO champion, Patrick Kujala, who have scored four victories up to now, with the colors of Bonaldi Motorsport. Immediately behind them are the pairing of Konrad Motorsport formed by Nicolas Armindo and Henry Hassid, first place overall in Race 2, and the Italian crew of Antonelli Motorsport, composed of two nineteen-year-old drivers Andrea Fontana and Lorenzo Veglia. In the same class, besides the presence of Biela, it is also worth mentioning the return of Marco Mapelli, who debuted in England and will share the car of Petri Corse with the “new entry” Ferdinando Monfardini.
The champion of the Blancpain Super Trofeo 2013 and GT3 Junior Driver Andrea Amici, fresh from a victory at Fuji in the GT Asia Series with Edoardo Liberati on a Huracán GT3, will race again with the Greek Dimitri Deverikos on another car of Raton Racing. The only “lady” of the Young Drivers Program of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, Sarah Bovy, will also try and do well at her home-track on board of a car of Leipert Motorsport, with the Australian Ben Gersekowski.
In the AM class, Imperiale Racing will be represented by the Englishman Steve Tandy, who is leading the standings with 15 points of advantage over the Israeli of Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, Amir Krenzia. In the Lamborghini Cup, after scoring a success at Silverstone and two victories at Paul Ricard, Tim Richards (Toro Loco) is still ahead of everyone, with 14 points of advantage over the Dutchman Gerard Van der Horst (Van der Horst Motorsport).
The two free practice sessions of the Blancpain Super Trofeo will take place on Thursday, July 28. The two qualifying sessions, each lasting 15 minutes, are scheduled on Friday 29, from 11:25 a.m. and will determine the starting line-up of both 50-minute races. The first of which will start in the afternoon of the same day at 2:55 p.m., whereas Race 2 is scheduled on Sunday 30 in the morning, at 11:50 a.m..
Both races will be broadcasted live in Italy by Nuvolari TV, free-to-air on channel 61 of the DTTV.
