KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) concluded Audi R8 LMS Cup’s two-race challenge at Chang International Circuit with impressive drives by Jan Kisiel and Ryo Ogawa over the weekend. The second event of the Asian one-make series from the brand of the Four Rings, which was held as part of the Buriram Super Race 2016, witnessed KCMG clinch their first podium finish by Kisiel.
Audi R8 LMS Cup’s on-track action began last Friday with two practice sessions held to prepare the drivers for the weekend’s challenge in Thailand. Saturday morning’s qualifying run saw Kisiel qualify in eighth (Q1) and fifth (Super Pole) place while his Japanese team mate wrapped up the sessions in the top four, lining up third for Race 1 and fourth for Race 2. Meanwhile, the KCMG-serviced R8 of Champion Racing Team driver Martin Rump secured second and eighth positions on the starting grid.
Audi R8 LMS Cup’s first race saw drivers engage in an intense and closely fought session. Ryo Ogawa fiercely defended his position despite multiple contacts with opposition and skillfully finished the race in fourth place. Kisiel also delivered a flawless drive and crossed the finish line with a sixth place finish.
Race 2 witnessed KCMG successfully seal its first podium by Kisiel last weekend. From fifth place on the starting grid, the Polish driver managed to move up the order and maintained his position until he crossed the finish line in third place. Ogawa, on the other hand, went on to round off the session in sixth position.
Champion Racing Team driver Martin Rump was on a mission after the first race, which saw him finish at the back of the field after being pushed off track by opposition. After posting the fastest lap in Race 1, Rump’s comeback that afternoon produced an impressive lights to flag victory.
Jan Kisiel: "I am very pleased with my first podium finish this season. It's proof that I have been able to transition successfully to the rear wheel drive R8 LMS. The team and I have done a lot of work to optimize the car's set up which helped me produce strong race pace throughout the weekend. This gives me a reason to feel optimistic ahead of Sepang."
Ryo Ogawa: "I’d like to thank Team KCMG, Paul Ip and Ryuji Doi for giving me this opportunity to race the Audi R8 in Thailand. It’s been a amazing experience as we’ve had great battles on track and its been a delight to be part of the action over the weekend. I’m looking forward to represent KCMG again in the near future!”
