The Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTLM will start from the second row in class in today's Continental Road Race Showcase race at Road America.Italian Giancarlo Fisichella qualified the Risi Rosso Corse Prancing Horse in the fourth position in the GTLM class at a time of 2:02.975 on the fourth of six laps on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn Midwestern road course. He and teammate Finn Toni Vilander will both be making their third start at the popular Elkhart Lake circuit and seeking their first victory of the 2016 International Motor Sport Association (IMSA) WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Temperature are expected to be partly cloudy and in the mid 70 degrees F.Rick Mayer, Risi Competizione Race Engineer:"Qualifying fourth was pretty good. I think we have a good race car. We made a couple changes before qualifying which were improvements. We'll try a couple more changes in warm-up and I think we'll have a good race."Giancarlo Fisichella, driver, No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTLM:"Not too bad of qualifying for us. I think it was a good qualifying session and we're very close to the first row and within just a few hundredths of a second, so it's not too bad. It's very encouraging for tomorrow. The car balance was okay and I'm looking forward to the race."
Toni Vilander, driver, No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTLM:"I think it was quite positive both yesterday and today. More or less we were around P3 or P4 all of the practice sessions. We had a slight issue prior to practice 3 this morning. We lost a little bit of track time, but overall, it was a good job from the team and the way they reacted and we managed to run 40-45 minutes of the session despite the small problem. We did some slight changes for the qualifying. Giancarlo did a really good, a solid job, and it's really close to P2. We are, I think five hundredths or six one hundredths of a second to P2 and obviously the one Ford just showed the pace in a class of its own with over half a second faster than everyone. It was a good positive day and a good qualifying session so we'll see tomorrow. We have warm-up and then racing in the afternoon so anything can happen. In GTLM class overall, the races are really tough. It will be a tough battle and a tight race as always. A lot of things happen in the pits. We really need to hit our pit stops well. Both Giancarlo and I have won here in the past, so hopefully, we can bring that experience again here tomorrow and get a good result."The two hour and 40-minute WeatherTech race will start at 4:05 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 7, after a 20-minute warm-up earlier Sunday morning.
