Tarun Reddy achieved his fourth 2016 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship podium accolade with Fortec Motorsports during standout weekend for the 18-year-old Indian driver at Snetterton circuit last weekend.During a windy start to rounds 19/20/21 of the British F3 series in Norfolk on Thursday, Reddy showed his quick pace early doors when he topped the timesheet in the second practice session with a 1m43.718s lap. Team mate Al Faisal Al Zubair, from Muscat, Oman, made another consistent start to the weekend before conditions took a turn for the worst. Cooler temperatures during FP3 saw the Fortec pairing ending in P15 and P18 respectively whilst a sudden downpour ahead of the final outing of the day saw the Daventry based team sit out the shortened, water-logged session entirely, with over half of the grid opting to remain safely in the pits.The sun came out for further practice sessions on the Snetterton 300 track on Friday and the Fortec Motorsports team took full advantage of the more favorable, dry conditions. Reddy made significant progress throughout the day with P9, P12, P3 and P5 in the four practice sessions and maintained momentum in to the 20-minute qualifying by completing the top ten grid positions for the start of race one in the afternoon.Round 19 on Saturday saw two incidents which the Fortec pair were able to avoid, with Reddy finishing the 15-lap race in P7 and Al Zubair in fourteenth. The sunshine returned, along with some strong gusts of wind, to Snetterton on Sunday morning and with the top-eight from race one being reversed for the race two grid, Reddy started in P2.As the lights went out, Reddy made a strong start and challenged pole man Nikita Mazepin (Carlin Motorsport) into the first turn at Riches. He was briefly able to pull ahead, but the Russian held strong and turning into Wilson was able to maintain the lead.After the opening two circuits Reddy began to come under pressure from Harrison Scott (HHC Motorsport) in third. Fastest laps were traded back and forth between the leading group, but Scott struggled to get close enough to Reddy to attempt an overtake. The Fortec driver defended confidently in his #14 charger right up to the chequered flag and claimed his fourth British F3 podium of the 2016 season. Al Zubair came home in a much improved twelfth position.The weekend finale saw plenty of drama on the opening lap as Chris Dittmann Racing’s Krishnaraaj Mahadik attempted to overtake Al Zubair turning into Murrays, making contact with the Omani’s car and losing his front-wing in the process. At the halfway stage the race began to settle down in action and Reddy took the chequered flag in a strong points scoring ninth position. Despite his early encounter, Al Zubair kept his head throughout the 16-lap battle to cross the finish line in P15.Tarun Reddy is currently seventh in the 2016 Drivers’ Championship, with Al Zubair in thirteenth out of 27 entries.
