Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan will hope to push towards the podium places when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Scotland this weekend for the seventh round of the season.Andrew makes the trip to Knockhill sitting eighth in the championship standings, but is less than 20 points away from the top four in a season that is proving to be one of the most competitive in recent memory. The 27-year-old also holds a 23 point lead in the Independents’ Championship having battled back well from an unfortunate mechanical issue last time out at Snetterton, where he was forced to battle through the field from the back of the grid on race day after being unable to post a time in qualifying. The fact that Andrew came away from the Snetterton weekend with his Independents’ points lead intact was further indication of the impressive speed of his Motorbase Performance-run Ford Focus; a car that was one of the pace-setters at Knockhill twelve months ago.The 2013 champion will hope that the same is true this time around as he looks to add to his solitary win during round three at Thruxton back in May, with a strong points haul being the primary aim for the weekend ahead.“Things haven’t really gone my way in the last couple of meetings but I’ve been able to keep picking up the points that I know will be vital at the end of the season,” he said. “Snetterton in particular was tough as we clearly had a quick car, and hopefully we can make the most of it this weekend in Scotland at a circuit where the Focus has been strong in the past.“The fact I did slip a few places in the overall standings last time out means I carry less success ballast into this weekend, which should work in my favour when it comes to qualifying, particularly on the drag out of the final hairpin.“Knockhill is a circuit I love and one that rewards drivers who push to their limit, so I’ll be giving it my all to pick up some strong points and I certainly feel that I should be right in the mix for victories and podiums.“It’s so close in the title race that a good weekend could see me vault up the standings, and I think we have a great opportunity to make up ground on the guys ahead.”After qualifying on Saturday 13 August at 15.50, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.50 on Sunday, with race two at 14.17 and race three at 17.12. All three races will be broadcast on ITV4, whilst qualifying will be broadcast live on www.itv.com. Live timing and results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
