Matthew Bisceglia returned to action in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Unadilla in New Berlin, New York at the weekend after missing three rounds with fractured ribs.
Bisceglia raced the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450 to 10th-place overall on the legendary upstate circuit scoring 9-10 moto finishes, marking his third top-10, 450cc class result after signing-up with Yoshimura Suzuki in June as a fill-in rider.
Team-mate James Stewart missed the round after tweaking his shoulder in a training incident earlier in the week and Blake Baggett is out for the remainder of the season due to injury.
Bisceglia gradually worked his way back up to speed during the Unadilla National weekend. He qualified 16th with a time of 2:25.916, giving little indication of the speed he was going to produce in the national.
The team was pleased when in both motos Bisceglia ran a solid and steady race and showed an amazing ability to bounce back to full speed after a month away from competition.
“It was a decent day for my first race back after missing a few rounds,” Bisceglia explained. “I took a little bit of time off after my crash at Southwick. It was a good day with the 9-10. I think my pace was a little bit faster in both motos. It was good. Unadilla hasn’t exactly been the best place for me in the past, so keeping in the top-10 was a good accomplishment.”
