Joey Mawson (20, Australia, Van Amersfoort Racing) will be on pole in the 19th round of the 2016 ADAC Formula 4 at Zandvoort, while Mike David Ortmann (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) starts Race 20 from the top spot. Current championship leader Mawson posted a best time of 1:38.434 minutes in qualifying for the first race. "I'm very happy with pole position," he said. "We definitely intend to win the first race. This is a very special track and a home fixture for our team. I'm well prepared for every eventuality. We've done our homework and are ready." SPORT1 will broadcast all three races live on Saturday (11:55 and 17:40) and on Sunday (10:15). They can also be watched as live streams via www. sport1.de and www.adac.de/formel-4. Mike David Ortmann will also be on the front row in the first of three races at the track on the North Sea coast. The ADAC Sports Foundation protégé was fastest in Group B with a time of 1:38.558. "It went well for me," said Ortmann. "I'm now really looking forward to the races. It won't be easy at Zandvoort. You simply have to push forwards or be overtaken! The races will certainly be exciting. The track is a whole lot of fun - very demanding for drivers and a huge challenge." After posting the fastest and second-fastest times in free practice this morning, rookie Lirim Zendeli (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) will start from P3 on the grid. Janneau Esmeijer (19, Netherlands, Team Timo Scheider) was the best-placed local driver in the Netherlands debut for the ADAC High Speed Academy, qualifying fourth. Mick Schumacher (17, Germany, Prema Powerteam) and Kami Laliberté (16, Canada, Van Amersfoort Racing) will share Row 3. SPORT1 will show the first of the three ADAC Formula 4 races from Zandvoort live at 11:55 on Saturday. Ortmann and Zendeli start from the front row in the second race The grid positions for the second race on Saturday (live on SPORT1) are determined by the second best lap times from the qualifying session. Ortmann nosed ahead here with a time of 1:38.594 minutes, followed by Zendeli and Esmeijer then rookie Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil, Neuhauser Racing). Laliberté was fifth, Mick Schumacher sixth. Title favourite Mawson starts the second race of the home fixture for his Van Amersfoort team from twelfth. The Australian youngster's second fastest lap of 1:39.230 minutes was almost a second slower than his best time.The grid for the third race on Sunday (live on SPORT1 from 10:15) is determined by the result of Race 1, with the Top Ten starting in reverse order. Mawson looking to wrap up the championship early After their recent victories at the Nürburgring, Mawson and Schumacher have opened up a considerable gap on the rest of the field. However, the Australian is focusing only on his own performance: "Obviously, it's good that I'm starting ahead of Mick, but ultimately I need to drive my own race and go for the win." Mawson leads the drivers' standings on 297 points, while his former team-mate trails in second place on 251.
