Renault e.dams lap it up at Donington

Reigning FIA Formula E teams’ champion Renault e.dams continued to rack up the laps at Donington Park in the second day of official pre-season testing.

Sébastien Buemi was the team’s fastest driver Wednesday, with his 1min 29.765secs lap the third fastest in the quicker morning session. Nicolas Prost went third in the afternoon with a 1min 30.344secs. Both drivers spent the majority of the day working on assessments of the season three challenger, the Renault Z.E.16.

Today will be the final day of this week’s test, with pre-season testing resuming on September 5-7.

Alain Prost, Senior Team Manager: "Testing is not the most glamorous part of the season but it’s exciting for the drivers to get the first taste of the car they will drive and for the engineers to confirm all the designs are working as they should. Today was a useful day in this process and the team showed positively in both pace and reliability."

Jean-Paul Driot, Senior Team Manager: "A test day with no particular issues or dramas is always a positive especially if we can complete a good number of laps and be fast as well. Obviously, continuing with our familiar driver line-up means we are able to go through all the necessary assessments and evaluations in a productive manner. We are certainly happy with progress so far."

Vincent Gaillardot, Renault Sport Project Leader: "Testing for us at Donington is all about getting mileage on the car and validating that everything works as it should. We achieved a strong tally of laps in the two sessions today and both drivers gave positive feedback. We’re going in the right direction with the car even if it is difficult to assess the relevance of set-up changes here as Donington is so different from the type of circuits we race on. Both drivers completed long runs which are important for race simulations and assessments. It was particularly warm for the UK here today, maybe tomorrow we will have some different weather to assist with our evaluations."

#9 Sébastien: "It was frustrating not to go for a quick lap right at the end of the afternoon session due to another car having a romance with the gravel trap but overall it was a productive day. It was good to get some long runs on the board and we looked relatively quick in the morning too. You can certainly see the improvements made since we were here with last season’s car a year ago."

#8 Nico: "It was a strong day at the track for us and fabulous weather in Donington too! We were able to build on work done yesterday and made positive progress. We were able to get some long runs too so we’ve got a good amount of data for the engineers to work with. Certainly I’m keeping a close eye on what the other cars are doing as it’s still early days in testing, but I’m happy with how everything has gone so far."
