The AmDTuning.com team will hope for an upturn in fortune when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads for Rockingham this weekend for the eighth round of the year. The West Thurrock-based team makes the trip to Northamptonshire hoping for an improvement in luck after round seven at Knockhill saw driver Ollie Jackson once again in the wars, with an incident in qualifying leaving him to fight from the back of the grid on race day.Whilst that resulted in Ollie being unable to pick up points during the Scottish race weekend, the fact he was able to overtake more drivers than anyone else as he looked to battle his way through the pack was an indication of the ever-improving performance of the team’s Audi S3, which had also shown strong pace during free practice north of the border.Ollie will now seek to build on that potential at a circuit where he enjoyed one of the strongest weekends of his BTCC career; picking up a personal best of 16 points whilst driving for AmDTuning.com back in 2012.Having endured a tough run of form since the summer break, Ollie will now hope that Rockingham can once again prove to be a high point in his campaign, with a return to the points being the main aim for the weekend ahead.“We really turned a corner with the car during summer break and were confident that the second half of the year would see us pushing for points,” he said. “Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for one reason and another and there is no doubt that the last two meetings have been tough. The end results certainly haven’t reflected the performance of the car.“Even from the back of the grid at Knockhill, I think we could have scored points had it not been for the exhaust problem that put us out of race two. However, the fact that we overtook more cars than anyone else across the three races showed that the Audi is a strong race car, and now we need to make the most of it.“The team continues to work hard to find further improvements and if we can have a bit more luck, and avoid some of the trouble that seems to have followed us in recent events, then there is no reason why we can’t come away from Rockingham with points on the board.”Team boss Shaun Hollamby echoed Ollie’s thoughts and said he was hopeful that Rockingham would see the team finally secure the results it deserved.“The pace in the car has been good in the last few rounds but we haven’t picked up the points to show it,” he said. “The incidents at Snetterton and then the fact we had to come from the back of the pack at Knockhill really hampered our chances of scoring, although Ollie showed the potential that there is in the Audi to make up more places than anyone else in Scotland.“Hopefully this weekend we’ll have a little bit of luck on our side and be able to avoid some of the dramas that we have found ourselves involved in in the two rounds since the summer break.“A good performance in qualifying would set us up well for race day, and I’m sure that, if we stay out of trouble, we can push towards the points scoring positions.”
