Feature Race reportLuca Ghiotto lost any chance to fight due to a safety-car mishap, while Armand retained 19th place from qualifying.Luca Ghiotto scored a sixth place in the opening race of the GP2 Series weekend at Monza. The 21-year-old Italian took-off from the ninth spot on the grid but put together a clean series of passes up to third place. A crash on lap 16 then forced the stewards to bring in the safety-car which completely wiped away Ghiotto’s efforts due to a positioning mistake made by the safety-car itself. That meant several positions lost, and only a remarkable comeback in the final part of the race handed Ghiotto a great sixth place, good for a third place start in tomorrow’s sprint race. “My car was really competitive” - said Luca - “When I made it back to third, the wrong positioning of the safety-car dropped me down the order and sent me to the back. It’s a pity to have our race ruined by an event that had nothing to do with the drivers. Concerning the tyre wear, I didn’t experience any issue.
Ghiotto climbed up to eight place in driver standings, while Philo Armand avoided any mistake and crossed the line in P19 after starting from the same position.
