Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing go for BTCC glory at Brands Hatch

Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan will look to end his Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign on a high this weekend when the series heads to the iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit for the final round of the year.Andrew goes into Finals Day as one of eight drivers still in contention for the championship title following a fine performance last time out at Silverstone.A second win of the year was the highlight of the penultimate meeting of the campaign as Andrew scored more points than any of his rivals; allowing him to close to within 31 points of the championship lead in the process.A maximum score of 67 is still available this weekend at Brands Hatch; a circuit where his Motorbase Performance-run Ford Focus was very much the car to beat last year with two victories from three races. As well as seeking to keep the pressure on the drivers ahead in the battle for overall honours, Andrew will also look to wrap up the Independents’ Drivers championship, which he currently leads by 34 points. With 60 points still available, Andrew finds himself in a straight fight with Motorbase team-mate Mat Jackson as he looks to secure the crown for the third time in his career.“Although I can’t believe it’s come around already, I’m really looking forward to heading to Brands Hatch for Finals Day,” he said. “Even though there are two championship titles to consider, I feel relaxed about the weekend ahead and plan to just go out, enjoy myself and see what happens.“With a good lead in the points, the Independents’ championship is a more realistic goal this weekend and the main aim is to wrap up the title for the third time in my career, which would be a good way to end my first year with the team.“It’ll be a big ask to win the overall crown from 31 points behind, but you can never say never in this game. We scored more points than anyone else at Silverstone and if we could pick up another big haul at Brands Hatch, and the drivers ahead run into trouble, then anything could still be possible.“There is no pressure on me, and with confidence on a high after the results at Silverstone, I plan to get stuck in and fight hard for more victories. Then we just have to see where it leaves us when the chequered flag falls for the final time.”After qualifying on Saturday 1 October at 15.40, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.32 on Sunday, with race two at 14.22 and race three at 17.09. All three races will be broadcast on ITV4, whilst qualifying will be broadcast live on www.itv.com. Live timing and results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
