Daniel Lloyd is aiming for a return to the rostrum this coming weekend as he heads to Brands Hatch in Kent for the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup season finale (October 1/2).
After making his competitive debut in the #34 Porsche 911 (type 991) just two weeks ago at Silverstone – where the 24-year-old secured two top seven finishes – Lloyd re-joins Stratford-Upon- Avon-based squad In2 Racing for the championship’s closing two rounds on the iconic GP circuit.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back out in the Porsche again;” commented Lloyd. “We had a great first run last time out at Silverstone taking P7 in both races but I know that there’s still so much more in the bag. We consistently ran in the top three times, so with a bit more seat time behind us I’m confident we can translate that into results this weekend.”
With the Championship title having already been claimed, Lloyd is hopeful that the field will open up new opportunities for the Yorkshireman to show his full potential on the notoriously tricky former F1 circuit as he looks to end what has been a challenging season on a high note.
“I absolutely love the GP layout;” continued Lloyd. “It’s a proper old-school circuit and I have a lot of experience racing there so I’m hopeful that will give us an edge over the competition.
“It’s been a really tough year not having a full campaign behind us, but that’s spurring me on more than ever to make sure that we end this season on a positive.”
Rounds 15 and 16 of the Porsche Carrera Cup take place on the Brands Hatch GP circuit on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of October. Friday 30th September hosts both free practice sessions – scheduled for 11:30 and 16:40 with qualifying for round 15 at 12:05 on Saturday 1st.
Sunday 2nd October features both 17 lap races with the final two races of the season scheduled to take place at 10:35 and 16:17.
Live coverage of both races will be shown on ITV4/ITV4HD, streamed via itv.com/btcc and available to watch online via the ITVhub, with full coverage of the BTCC/TOCA package broadcast from 11:00 – 18:30
Daniel is also proud to be a Yorkshire Patron and ambassador for the Forget Me Not Hospice.
