FIA World Rally ChampionshipOgier wins in Wales, Volkswagen crowned champion manufacturer* again
Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (F/F) won the Rally Great Britain in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). In doing so, they also presented Volkswagen with a fourth Manufacturers’ title* in a row. This was the fourth straight victory for the French duo, who have already wrapped up the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship*, and their first of the season on gravel. Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) finished seventh in Wales, while team-mates Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (N/N) had to settle for 12th, after both Volkswagen duos lost time due to damaged drive shafts on Friday. The final round of the season takes place from 18 to 20 November in Australia.
TCR BeneluxDe Leval wins Junior title in the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR
Romain de Leval (B) claimed the Junior title in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR at the sixth and final race weekend of the TCR Benelux series in Mettet, Belgium. The driver from the Delahaye team finished fourth in the opening race and fifth in race two. Alexis van de Poele (B), who shares the cockpit of the Golf GTI TCR with de Leval, also had cause for celebration. Van de Poele finished third to claim a spot on the podium in the fourth and final race. The Belgian also came home fourth in race three.
Volkswagen Racing Cup UKScirocco driver House crowned champion
Phil House (GB) won the title in the Volkswagen Racing Cup UK. The Brit won race three of the season finale at Brands Hatch (GB) in a Volkswagen Scirocco. House had previously finished runner-up in the opening race behind Jamie Bond (GB, Golf). Tom Witts (GB, Golf) finished second overall in the championship: the British driver won race two and came home second behind House in race three.
Volkswagen Fun Cup EuropeNetcom by Allure takes the title, Bustin by DN’s victorious at season finale
Second place at the season finale in Mettet (B) was enough for the Netcom by Allure team to take overall victory in the Volkswagen Fun Cup Europe. Victory in the ten-hour race at the Circuit Jules Tacheny went to the Bustin by DN’s team – with a lead of almost 10 seconds over the second-placed car. The Conceptexpo by Milo team finished third.
