GLASGOW skipper Aaron Summers will be back to lead the club in the SGB Championship next season.Summers captained the Tigers to the KO Cup in 2016, their first item of silverware since the takeover of the Facenna brothers, and he has quickly agreed terms for a third year at Ashfield. He said: “The season went well and I finished really strongly, at the top of the averages, and I got the track record back - so I'm looking forward to returning.“The way I finished shows what people can expect from me. Next season is going to be the year I need to prove myself, if I haven't already done that this year.“The promotion will put together the best team they can. You need a bit of luck when it comes to the business end of the season and a few little things didn't go our way last season - so the league title is one thing we need to push on for next year and try to make it ours.”

CHRIS Widman has become the second rider to be confirmed as a starter for the Isle of Wight next season.Widman returned to the Warriors for in the latter stages of this year’s National League campaign after previous spells with Stoke and Mildenhall, and he now joins James Cockle in the 2017 line-up.Manager Jackie Vatcher said: “We are delighted to announce Chris's return as, in my opinion, he's the best rider with a four-point average in the National League, and without doubt is worth twice his current average in terms of points scoring per meeting around the Smallbrook circuit.“He came into the team last season as a replacement for the retiring No.1 Benji Compton so in fairness to Chris he was under pressure right from the off, but now he will come in as a second string backing up the heat-leaders with less pressure upon him.”
