BRITISH youngster Adam Ellis has been handed an SGB Premiership place with Swindon. The move ends fears he would be frozen out of the top flight due to his 7.84 average after a strong season with Poole in 2016, and Robins boss Alun Rossiter is delighted to show faith in him.Rossiter said: “I’m backing Adam because he deserves a chance to race in the Premiership. He impressed me at the Elite League Riders’ Championship when he beat Niels-Kristian Iversen and his attitude is superb.“I know the signing will raise a few eyebrows, but before anyone has a pop look at the positives – he’s a very classy rider and I feel he will enjoy riding in the same team as Jason Doyle.“With my Great Britain manager hat on too, this has to be good news.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
RYE House have confirmed they intend to largely retain their Saturday race-night following their elevation to the SGB Premiership. The Rockets are planning extensive further stadium improvements at Hoddesdon ahead of the new campaign, although the club’s National League team will not compete in 2017.Co-promoter Steve Jenson said: “We are aiming to maintain Saturday nights as much as we can. We recognise that it is our supporters’ traditional race night, and also the most convenient one for many of them to attend on. “The Grand Prix calendar means that there will be times when that just won’t be possible – we won’t run when there is a clash – but out of eighteen planned dates we are planning to run between eight and ten meetings on Saturdays and two on Bank Holiday Monday afternoons, with allowance for a couple of Monday evenings for Sky Sports’ live coverage and four-to-six on Wednesdays.”
