RYE House have added the signing of British star Chris Harris as they gear up for their first season in the SGB Premiership. The Rockets, who announced former Belle Vue skipper Scott Nicholls on Monday, will now also include Harris who announced at the end of the season that he was seeking a move from his long-time club Coventry.Co-promoter Steve Jenson said: “The first time I met Chris was during a pre-meeting track walk at this year’s British semi-final at Scunthorpe. I was immediately impressed by the way he talked about the sport, and by his professional credentials.“That stuck with me, and as soon I heard that Chris was looking for a winter move to new pastures I wanted him to be a part of the team. “Like Scott, he is going to be a key part of the squad, and like Scott he is going to bring much more to us than just the points he scores on the track.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
LEWIS Bridger has secured a move into the SGB Championship with Berwick.Former Lakeside rider Bridger is one of three signings announced by the Bandits, who have handed recalls to captain Kevin Doolan and local youngster Liam Carr from their 2016 team.Co-promoter Scott Courtney said: “Lewis Bridger has natural talent in abundance, not to mention an impressive track record in the former Elite League and this gives him major box office appeal.“He is no stranger to Shielfield Park, as many will remember when he embraced the border circuit in a Grand Prix qualification round only a couple of seasons ago and was nothing short of spectacular with his explosive style of racing.“Kevin has been a sensation for the last three seasons on and off the track with a passion for Berwick Speedway equal to the most enthusiastic of supporters, and no current Berwick side would be complete without the inclusion of Liam, whose progress in 2016 was nothing short of astonishing.”(SPEEDWAY 3)
BEN Wilson has agreed a move to the Isle of Wight for the 2017 National League season.Wilson joins the Warriors after spending the last campaign at Stoke, and team boss Jackie Vatcher believes he will give the side the top-end strength they require. She said: “I am sure the signing of Ben, who is a quality outright No.1 in the National League, will show not only our supporters and sponsors but the rest of the league our intention of being one of the front-runners for success in 2017. “Ben has been a pleasure to deal with during the positive negotiations and is delighted to be coming to the Island as much as we are that he's coming.“We now await the NL AGM for the outcome of what the points limit will be for the new season next year, but to have Ben on board along with James Cockle and Chris Widman, our team building could not have gone better at this early stage of the close season.”
