BRITISH Champion Danny King will take over the Coventry captaincy in the 2017 SGB Premiership season.And King, who will be going into his third year with the Bees, will be joined at Brandon by former Grand Prix star Kenneth Bjerre who returns to the UK after one season away. Promoter Mick Horton said: “Danny is honoured to be given the club captaincy for next season. He loves the club and made it perfectly clear that he wanted to come back to us.“We know what we’re going to get from him, and I fully expect him to continue in the kind of form he showed for much of this year.“Kenneth is very determined to come back into British racing and be one of the top riders in the Premiership. He expects that to be the case and his set-up is absolutely superb.“He expects to be No.1 before long although I’m sure Danny will also have something to say about that, which is all healthy competition.”

GLASGOW have made Richie Worrall their third signing for 2017 - reuniting the same heat-leader trio that they ended with in 2016.Worrall, who was one of the stars of last summer, joins Richard Lawson and Aaron Summers at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium for the SGB Championship campaignThe Englishman upped his average from 6.84 to 8.49 in Tigers colours last season, and had always insisted he wanted to return for a second term next year.It means that Stewart Dickson is left with just under 15 points to complete his 2017 line-up.

MILDENHALL have announced Danny Halsey will return to the club for a seventh successive season in 2017.Halsey was a member of the Fen Tigers’ Grand Slam-winning side in 2012 and is also a former National League Riders’ Champion, with the West Row side expecting him to keep up the momentum from a strong end to the last campaign.Promoter Kevin Jolly said: “In my mind on his day Danny is as good as it gets at this level, he just needs to find his consistency early on and maintain it throughout to have another big season for us. “He is very popular both on and off the track and there is no doubt he rides better with Jon (Armstrong) in the side. The pair put in some brilliant rides together last season and we will be hoping for more of the same in 2017.”

YOUNGSTER Tom Brennan is a confirmed starter for Eastbourne in the 2017 National League season.Brennan made his debut for the Eagles on his 15th birthday earlier this year – although he suffered a broken collarbone on that occasion!He undertook a limited number of meetings for the club in the regular league season but stepped in towards the end for the play-offs and cup matches, which ended with the Eagles winning the KO Cup.Brennan joins Georgie Wood in the line-up for the Arlington side.
