Tiago Monteiro puts his name on the Macau winners list

Tiago Monteiro kept his promise to take revenge on Macau after a very bitter blow back in 2014, where he was forced to retire from the race just a few kilometers from the finish after leading the entire event in the FIA WTCC. So this year, at the invitation of Honda and West Coast Racing, the Portuguese driver entered the TCR category determined to get his just reward, and he did just that!Qualifying in third place, despite an engine problem that prevented him from participating in most of the final free practice session, Tiago also secured 3rd place in the qualifying race. He then made a remarkable start in the final race and seized the lead in the opening meters where he stayed for the entirety of the race, despite a red flag interruption."I knew what I had to do and that success could come from the first few moments of racing," Tiago explained. "I took a risk and it paid off, but the race itself was difficult. The level of competition was very high and I had to run my race calmly to be sure I kept my head. I knew that the slightest mistake, the slightest slip up, could see it all end in the barriers. The satisfaction of this win is immense, it is a fabulous feeling, I am very happy and I thank Honda and West Coast Racing for all they have done for me this weekend."The joy is all the greater for Tiago because he also had the pleasure of watching the victory of his compatriot and friend, Antonio Felix da Costa, in the Formula 3 race. "We can not imagine a better result that this one! It is a huge pride for our country and our national motorsport is very proud of Antonio's victory."
