Trident GP2 Abu Dhabi Feature Race report

With a good recovery drive in race 1 at Abu Dhabi, Luca Ghiotto barely missed the points zone in the Emirates and retained seventh place in the overall standings. Philo Armand secured P16 after impressing in qualifying.Luca Ghiotto completed a great recovery drive and ended up just shy of the points zone in race 1 of the GP2 Series finale at Abu Dhabi. The 21-year-old Italian started from the 15th place on the grid with the harder compound tyres, and ran at a quick and consistent pace. With his highly-impressive run, he gained several positions and set the fifth fastest laptime of the day. Luca, who retained seventh place in standings, had his race complicated by a three-spot grid penalty for having blocked another driver in qualifying. “The stat was perfect and we could set a great pace in the first third of the race - explained Ghiotto - Then I started to experience some tire degradation issues that forced me to back down in my recovery attempts a bit. I’m looking forward to a good race tomorrow in order to get close to the top-5 in standings”. Philo Armand also left a strong impression at Abu Dhabi. The 20-year-old Indonesian posted an extremely convincing qualifying effort and confirmed his great chemistry with the Yas Marina venue. He completed race 1 in P16 with no mistakes made and remarkable laptimes on the table.
