KYLE Newman will return to local club Poole in the 2017 SGB Premiership.Newman, who has starred for the Pirates mainly in a reserve berth over the last three seasons, has now been named as vice-captain to skipper Hans Andersen.Promoter Matt Ford said: “It is great to have Kyle back with us yet again. He has certainly matured over the course of the last few years and is most definitely one of the success stories of the draft system. “Whilst last season he was blighted with illness and injury he still maintained his development as a speedway rider and I have decided to appoint him as vice-captain for the season. “Under Hans’s wing I believe he will be able to learn more about the role of captain which is great experience for him in the future.”(SPEEDWAY 2)
PETERBOROUGH have captured the signings of Premier League title winners Paul Starke and Bradley Wilson-Dean.The duo, who helped Somerset to glory in 2016, have been confirmed as the final names on the Panthers’ team-sheet for the new-look SGB Championship next season.Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: “Being able to bring two title-winners to the club is a wonderful way to complete our team building.“Paul and Bradley know exactly what it takes to win honours at this level and hopefully they can enjoy more success as Peterborough riders. “They have already proven they know their way around the Showground and I'm sure they will both excel once getting fully dialed in.“There’s no doubt that Paul will be challenging for a heat-leader berth whereas I don’t think there will be many better reserves in the league than Bradley.”
