WOLVERHAMPTON have secured the services of title hero Sam Masters for the 2017 season.The popular Australian will be back with the Monmore club for the second straight campaign as they go in search of SGB Premiership glory, meaning they have retained five members of their triumphant 2016 side.Co-promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “We’re delighted Sam can continue with Wolverhampton. We’re really pleased we are able to keep our top three from last year’s side, because it isn’t often the title winners can manage to do that. “It’s a good move for the club and the team spirit because they all get on very well, and we’re very excited for what they can achieve again next season.“We felt Sam showed a huge amount of maturity and progress last season. He certainly helped us and I think we helped him to an extent as well.”

LAKESIDE have made a double swoop as they plan for their National League entry in the 2017 season.George Hunter has made the switch from Rye House and he will be joined by former Mildenhall man Alfie Bowtell with the Hammers’ application to move into the third tier expected to be finalised at the league’s AGM on Tuesday.Promoter Jon Cook said: “We’re pleased to make a start with George and Alfie, they are two riders we feel can improve their average.“There has been no shortage of riders calling us which is extremely flattering.“And for us to have the experience and knowledge of Kelvin Tatum, who spent a glittering career at the very top of the sport, on board is excellent and the youngsters will learn so much from working with him.”
