Thruxton races ahead with introduction of electric vehicle charging

Underscoring its forward-thinking nature and pioneering approach, Thruxton Circuit and its landlord, Western Air (Thruxton) Ltd have introduced electric vehicle charging facilities in the latest exciting initiative for Britain’s fastest motor sport venue.Responding to feedback, Thruxton tasked ChargePoint Services with installing the newest EV charging technology in order to offer its visitors the best possible amenities. Both a rapid charger and twin fast charger have arrived at the popular track just off the busy A303 near Andover to enable motorists to quickly and easily recharge their electric vehicles. The chargers are operated by ChargePoint Services’ GeniePoint Network and can be accessed via robust RFID card access or smartphone App. They will be available for public access from 07:00 - 21:30, seven days a week and are ideally positioned for EV drivers to recharge whilst travelling north or south through Hampshire.“At Thruxton, we are continually developing the venue to provide a diverse range of facilities to attract new visitors to the circuit,” explained Thruxton Group Operations Manager, Pat Blakeney. “We had very little experience in electric vehicle charging, but ChargePoint Services were extremely efficient and took us through the sales, planning and installation process clearly, competently and with minimal disruption.“In addition to passing drivers wishing to top-up, we are confident that the installation of electric vehicle charging will encourage our current and future client list of manufacturers to use Thruxton as a venue for events.”“The GeniePoint Network is expanding rapidly, and we are very pleased to welcome Thruxton Circuit onto our network,” added ChargePoint Services Managing Director, Alex Bamberg. “One of our key focuses is making the GeniePoint network the most reliable in the UK, and we have invested heavily in customer service to ensure that any driver arriving at one of our chargers is confident they can recharge quickly and easily in order to keep moving on their journey.”For more information on Thruxton’s race meetings and driving experiences, visit: http://www.thruxtonracing.co.uk/
