Legends Cars National Championship

READY FOR BUMPER 2017 SEASON WITH OFFICIAL LAUNCH SET FOR AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL

• All-action Legends Cars eyeing consistently big grids for 2017 • New official tyre supplier confirmed with multi-year MRF deal• Key support slot with British Truck Racing Association continues • Legends Cars season to launch at Autosport International this month • One of biggest prizes in club motorsport to be announced at ASI

With the dawn of the New Year having only just passed, organisers of the action-packed Legends Cars National Championship are delighted to confirm a key presence at the annual Autosport International Show next week where the 2017 season will be officially launched.

Set to build on an outstanding 2016, where John Mickel won the coveted title after a classic season of bumper-to-bumper action, the series has ratified an exciting 16 round, eight weekend calendar for 2017 with selected events linking-up with the popular British Truck Racing Association meetings.

Fresh for the new season, Legends Cars has a brand new official tyre supplier after signing a deal with multinational brand MRF. With a key presence across multiple motorsport disciplines, including rallying, karting and, of course, circuit racing, the Indian-based manufacturer has agreed a five-year deal with the championship. Fuel supply continues to be provided by key partner WP Fuel.

Notably, on the opening day of Autosport International at Birmingham NEC next Thursday, 12th January, the championship will announce one of the biggest prizes in club motorsport. With final details still a closely guarded secret, it’s safe to say the prize on offer is HUGE.

Aside from being renowned for providing more overtaking in one race than you would expect to find in a full season of Formula One, one of the other understandably big draws for competitors in the Legends Cars National Championship is the outstanding value-for-money racing.

Easily the most cost-effective form of four-wheel circuit racing in Britain, with a full season possible for less than £10,000, the category is again planning a vintage year of action in 2017 with one of the biggest grids in British motorsport.

“We’re all incredibly excited ahead of 2017 and delighted to once again launch our new season at Autosport International”, said Phil Cooper, Legends Cars National Championship Owner, “We have the best big grid racing in the UK, the closest and most-action packed spectacle outside the BTCC, and we’re very much looking forward to another hugely successful year in 2017.

“It’s great news we’ll be part of several British Truck Racing weekends again, those events always attract fantastic crowds, and we’re delighted to welcome MRF as our new tyre partner for the next five seasons at least. Any drivers out there wanting the ultimate in bumper-to-bumper racing, at an incredibly affordable price, need look no further than the Legends Cars.”

Once again, the Legends Cars National Championship will have a strong presence at the Autosport International Show extravaganza at Birmingham NEC. Opening to the media and trade visitors on Thursday, 12th January, with a second trade day on Friday, 13th January, members of the public will be able to attend on Saturday and Sunday, 14th/15th January.

The championship will be situated in Hall 6, stand 6246, where Phil Cooper and members of the organising team will be on-hand to talk to prospective drivers about becoming part of, what is undoubtedly, the most exciting racing category outside the British Touring Car Championship.

Solidifying its links with the BTCC, multiple touring car race winner Rob Austin and Handy Motorsport BTCC team principal Simon Belcher will both take part in ‘Meet and Greet’ sessions at the Legends Cars stand on all four days of ASI in their role as Legends Cars ambassadors.

Following the official season launch at Birmingham NEC during Autosport International, the Legends Cars National Championship will get underway over the weekend 25th/26th March at Brands Hatch. The season will reach its conclusion back at the Kent venue on 4th/5th November.
