ROCKINGHAM LAUNCHES NEW ACCESS ALL AREAS TOURHAVE you ever wanted to know what goes on behind-the-scenes at Europe’s fastest motor racing circuit? Rockingham is launching a new experience to help visitors to do just that!From January 28, the Northamptonshire venue will be offering guided tours throughout the year giving visitors a unique insight into life at the first purpose-built motor racing circuit to be built in the UK since Brooklands in 1907, from its conception through to the present day.The 90-minute walking tour is a must for all! Not only motorsport fans, but visitors of all ages, providing access to all the areas normally reserved for race officials, members of the press, teams and of course, the drivers.Visitors will see Rockingham from a whole new perspective under the guidance of one of the experienced tour guides. They will go on a fascinating journey, learning about the sporting venue’s chequered history and discovering some interesting facts about the UK’s youngest motor racing circuit.The tour will take guests to the very heart of Rockingham, including a visit to the circuit’s nerve centre - Race Control, a panoramic view of the whole track from the comfort of the venue’s modern Media Centre and a climb to the highest point of the Rockingham Building Grandstand.If that wasn’t enough, there will be plenty of opportunities to take photographs as visitors walk through the iconic pedestrian tunnel which has provided the backdrop for professional snappers and TV cameramen alike, to the racing paddock, pit block garages and on to the winners’ podium.Rockingham’s Chief Executive, Peter Hardman, said: “We are very excited to be able to provide visitors with the opportunity to go behind the scenes and find out what it takes to run one of the UK’s top motor racing venues.“Over the past 15 years, Rockingham has become more than just a fantastic motorsport venue. It has grown into one of UK’s leading automotive and multi-purpose venues, supported by motor racing, track days and testing, retail experiences, drifting, corporate events, filming and a business centre.“The history of Rockingham has been well documented over the years. Rockingham has an interesting story and this tour will take visitors on a fascinating journey following one man’s dream to bring US style racing across the pond right through to the present day.”Tours will be held throughout the year and cost just £15 for adults, £10 for children aged 6-15, 5 & under go free. The first tour will be held on Saturday, January 28. Located at Stairwell Five on the main concourse of the Rockingham Building, the Diner/Coffee Shop is open every day from 8am to 3pm.Serving a great selection of hot and cold food from a homemade daily special dish to a range of salads, panini and jacket potato fillings, the Rockingham Diner/Coffee Shop provides the perfect pit stop for lunch, informal business meetings or to catch up with friends.
