BRITISH Grand Prix Wild Card Craig Cook is determined to make the most of his opportunity in this evening’s (Saturday) showpiece in Cardiff.
Cook became national champion at his home SGB Premiership circuit Belle Vue last month, and now gets his chance to rub shoulders with the World’s finest at the Principality Stadium again.
On his previous Wild Card appearance in 2015 he notched seven points, including a Heat 3 win over Chris Holder, Greg Hancock and Maciej Janowski.
Cook said: “There’s no pressure on me this weekend. I’m not there to answer to anyone but myself. I’m going to relax, enjoy it and do my own thing, and hopefully it’ll be enough to get me on the podium.
“I’m really looking forward to Cardiff. It’s a tremendous feeling to be part of such a huge event on the Grand Prix calendar and I’ve already proved this season that I can mix with the World’s best.
“But even so, I’ll be keeping an open mind. Extravagant plans can easily unwind so for now I’ll be playing my cards close to my chest. It’s a fantastic opportunity that I intend to make the most of.”

POOLE have axed No.1 Krzysztof Kasprzak and replaced him with former Rye House skipper Edward Kennett.
Pirates promoter Matt Ford has run out of patience with Polish star Kasprzak, who has scored just 18 points from 17 rides since returning from a shoulder injury, so has moved for Kennett who lost his place at Hoddesdon earlier in the summer.
Ford said: “Krzysztof is something of a challenge as a rider - he has very much had a chequered career. At times he is totally World class but has a tendency to get into a rut and that has been the case this year.
“It is extremely frustrating, not just for us as a club but equally for himself as a rider. He has not been able to put his finger on what the problem is, but now we are in the second half of the season I really don’t think we can offer him any further time to sort things out.
“I am sure that Eddie's determination to do a job for us will make him a better rider than his 6.82 figure suggests and I am pleased to welcome him back to the club.
“Whenever he has ridden for us, either on contract or as a guest, we have seemed to have been able to bring the best out of him and that is the aim this time around, and hopefully with the backing of the Poole fans we can see him settle back in quickly and provide the extra firepower that we are in need of.”

LEICESTER ace Pawel Przedpelski is hoping to make a rapid return from the broken leg suffered on his debut last week.
The Polish hotshot crashed heavily against Swindon at Beaumont Park but has undergone successful surgery on his injury.
He is now back home in Poland and hopes to make a return to the track in two or three weeks.
Co-promoter Marc Bates said: “We were all gutted to see Pawel's debut end as it did last week, but we're delighted to hear his surgery went well and we hope to see him back at Leicester very soon.
“We had awful luck last week with Kim (Nilsson) getting injured as well, but we're pleased to get Chris Harris in to take his place on Monday (against King’s Lynn).”

CRADLEY have secured a deal to bring Tyler Govier back to the club.
Govier, 21, started the season with the Isle of Wight but did not complete an official meeting for the Warriors, and now rejoins his 2015 side in place of Shelby Rutherford.
Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: “We felt we needed to make a change to strengthen our play-off push, so hopefully Tyler can come in and do a good job.
“We need him to bang in some points to help us reach that top four and start that off by contributing to a win against Stoke on Monday.”
