SPEEDWAY POSTPONEMENT - FRIDAY AUGUST 11

TRAVEL PLUS NATIONAL LEAGUE

Plymouth v Birmingham - OFF

(SPEEDWAY 1)

RYE House piled the home misery on Poole with a rampant 60-30 win at Wimborne Road to move firmly into the SGB Premiership play-off race.
Recently axed Poole No.1 Krzystzof Kasprzak returned to haunt his old club with a paid maximum on his Rockets debut as the Pirates crashed to a fifth successive home defeat for the first time in their history.
The fast-starting visitors raced into an astonishing 43-17 lead after just ten races, including a 5-1 from Ricky Wells and Stuart Robson when home skipper Hans Andersen was taking a tactical ride.
The Pirates then lost Paul Starke after a heavy crash in Heat 12 and late mechanical failures for Edward Kennett – when set for a 5-1 with James Shanes in Heat 14 – and Andersen enabled the Rockets to hit the 60-point mark.
Chris Harris (12+1), Kasprzak (11+1) and Ricky Wells (10) led the Rye points bonanza, whilst Andersen carded 8+1 for a Pirates side who managed just three race wins.
Rye House boss Peter Schroeck said: “The boys were absolutely brilliant, every single one of them.
“Krzysztof was all smiles afterwards, and the rest of the boys know they’ve now got an added ‘oomph’ with him in the side. But they all chipped in, and little Ben’s (Morley) paid 5, for example, were just as important as the points at the top-end.
“Everything clicked tonight. We were just so powerful out of the gate, and we offered them (Poole) no let-up throughout.”
Shanes said: “It was another disappointing night all round for us, but I was glad to get that win. I haven't had too many of them this year so it was nice for me personally.
“I would like to thank the fans for their appreciation. I know it is tough on them when we are struggling like we are but all I can do is ask them to stick with us.
“It hurts so much more because Poole have been so used to success and it is just not happening for us at the moment.”

SHEFFIELD extended their lead in the SGB Championship with a comprehensive 56-36 home win over Workington.
The Tigers won 12 of the 15 races as another solid team performance saw them comfortably maintain their unbeaten home record and go four points clear at the top.
However, victory did come at a cost after No.1 Josh Grajczonek crashed in his second outing - ruling him out of Friday's trip to Redcar.
Sheffield promoter Damien Bates said: “Josh was flying around the outside and his footrest caught the air fence on bend two causing him to come off.
“He went out and won his third ride but his foot and ankle swelled up pretty badly so he had to pull out of meeting and could do with resting it for a day or two.
“But it was another really good team performance, even though we didn't have Lasse (Bjerre) who's been told he's got to rest his knee to stop further damage.
“That's seven straight wins for us now and it also means we haven't lost a meeting since we brought in Jan (Graversen) and Georgie (Wood) at reserve.”
Josh Bates enjoyed his best night of the season for the Tigers with a 16-point haul, whilst Kyle Howarth (13+1) and Todd Kurtz (11+1) were also in double figures. Guest Richard Lawson (11) and Thomas Jorgensen (10) dominated the Comets’ scoring.

BELLE Vue have called up Cameron Heeps to guest as they look to move back into the top two of the SGB Premiership tonight (Friday).
The Aces face King’s Lynn at the National Speedway Stadium but do so without injured Australian duo Max Fricke (neck) and Rohan Tungate (leg), so Heeps steps in with rider-replacement in operation for Fricke.
Stars skipper Robert Lambert is in the Czech Republic for Saturday afternoon’s European Under-19 Cup, so former British Champion Danny King makes a guest appearance.
Aces reserve Jack Smith said: “Even after some big changes King’s Lynn are still a very strong team and with the way they rode earlier this week, they didn’t deserve to lose against Somerset.
“I’m certain they’ll have their sights set on a big win when they come here so we can’t expect an easy meeting but I know myself and the rest of the boys will be pulling together to get the win
“It’s frustrating for us not to have Max or Rohan with us. Hopefully those boys will soon recover and be back with us but in the meantime, I feel we have the strength in depth to keep the pressure on.”
Recent King’s Lynn signing Michael Palm Toft said: “I’m just there to put a shift in, do my bit for the team and we’ll hopefully get a good run going.
“We’re looking forward to the next few meetings and we’re happy we’re moving in the right direction.
“We’re here to put in 100 per cent every time but we’re also here to win, so hopefully we can start doing that.”

EDINBURGH star Ricky Wells is urging his side to hit back from last week’s home defeat when they host Peterborough in the SGB Championship tonight (Friday).
The Monarchs were overturned by Sheffield in their last Armadale outing, and have dropped to fourth place in the table – although they still have a six-point margin on the chasing pack led by Redcar.
With Sam Masters on the sidelines due to a broken collarbone, Ludvig Lindgren makes a guest appearance for the hosts, whilst Peterborough bring in ex-Edinburgh man Justin Sedgmen as they are without Ulrich Ostergaard (Danish League) and Bradley Wilson-Dean (injured).
Wells said: “I think Peterborough will be a tough test at home but we shouldn’t really be worrying about results at home.
“Hopefully last week was a minor blip and we can get the boys going again.”
Panthers boss Carl Johnson said: “We believe we're capable of getting results anywhere on any given day and we go into this run of fixtures on a high.
“The Fours success has put smiles on so many faces and we want to keep them there.
“We're currently a long way off the play-off places, but we're determined to finish the season as well as possibly can. The boys all want to win speedway meetings and we'll go to Edinburgh, Berwick and Newcastle this weekend with the aim of doing just that.”
Meanwhile leaders Sheffield have booked Richard Lawson to guest for Josh Grajczonek in their trip to Redcar.
Grajczonek crashed in the Tigers’ home win against Workington on Thursday and needs to rest his foot and ankle, with Lawson coming in on one of his former home tracks.
