If you are interested or involved with classics cars and historic racing - you will have doubtless heard of JD Classics - and how in the past decade the business has become a global power house in the classic race and restoration world - although JD Classics actually has been operating successfully for the past 25 years. There is also the small matter of the 100 + cars they have in their 7 showrooms at their 100,000 square foot facility.
When I first went there - I expected to be impressed by a huge collection of Jaguar racecars - they are the official Jaguar Heritage Racing partner - there are more C Types, D types, E types and Group C Silk Cut cars than you can imagine - as well as some oddball stuff such as the Broadspeed XJ12 C, alloy Jaguar XK120 racecars etc. What blew my mind away was some of the fabulous non-Jaguar stock and projects they are involved with including - Ford GT40, Lotus Cortina, Works Austin Healey 100s, Haynes of Maidstone GP4 Ford Escort, Ex - Stirling Moss Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing etc. etc.
In the last year, they have won concours trophies at Pebble Beach, races at Goodwood and done some colossal deals in the classic car world. If you are interested in Classic road and racecar restoration, preparation or car sales - check these guys out - I doubt that many who visit their premises for the first time will be anything less than gobsmacked by the scale and professionalism of their operation.
