AMG-Team HTP wins most important championship titles in GT MotorsportBuhk and Baumann become Overall Drivers Champions
The AMG-Team HTP Motorsport has secured its Overall Team Championship in the Blancpain GT Series in a breath-taking season finale. All three Mercedes-AMG GT3 gathered enough points in the last exciting race day of the 2016 season, to ensure the title of the Overall Team Championship goes to Germany. Maximilian Buhk (GER) and Dominik Baumann (A) completed the team´s success by winning the Overall Drivers Championship.
The team from Germany started ahead of the Blancpain GT Series finale in Barcelona as leaders in both championship tables, having all the chances to secure both the Overall and Sprint Championship.
Both the Qualification Race and the Main Race were nail-biting roller-coaster rides. Following great nose-to-tail battles until the final corner, the AMG-Team HTP race cars crossed the fishing line as the new Team Champions. To top the performance this year, Buhk and Baumann were crowned Drivers Champions in the Overall Championship.
“We started with a good feeling into this weekend and knew it would be a close run for the title”, says Norbert Brückner, Team Principal AMG-Team HTP Motorsport. “All drivers gave their best as they have all year and we as a team have deserved to win the title. We are also pleased for Maxi and Dominik to win the drivers title. I would like to thank everyone in the team and our drivers for a great team-work this year.
“We would also like to thank our partners and sponsors, who supported us through this nice and exciting season. We are already looking forward to start in 2017 again.”
