Lime Rock's affordable and fun Autocross Days.
The fourth season of Lime Rock Park’s Summer Autocross Series is coming to a close. So far, 254 drivers have put in times, with three more Open Autocross Days available before the AxIS Shoot-out co-presented by Spectro Oils and Motorcars, Inc., on Saturday, October 29.
Less than 3 seconds separates the top 100 drivers
What makes the Summer Autocross Series fun, exciting and most importantly, accessible to everyone, are five things exclusive to Lime Rock:
1. It’s mostly about the driving and not about the car. There are Miatas putting up quicker laps than Vipers. Hondas matching times with 911s. Old school Vettes beating C7s. You get the picture
2. It’s not expensive, and car-prep is easy: The cost is $225, and preparation is only as involved as “airing-up” your tires, filling your gas tank, and removing everything that’s “loose” in the cockpit and trunk. And you don’t need a helmet (but wear one if you want, many do)
3. Unlike all other autocross venues, Lime Rock’s course is not a confusing array of hundreds of cones in sea of blacktop. Ours is a natural terrain “mini” race track with multiple corner types – but with no walls or barriers to worry about. If you make a mistake, you fall off into the grass, not into a fence. Perfect for testing your limits...
4. Free coaching. Yes, that’s correct, you can get feedback from our professional race car driving coaches, each with years of experience making drivers faster and better. Ask them what you’re doing right – and wrong – and you can immediately practice the good and fix the bad
5. When all the regular-season Autocross Days are complete, the top 20 quickest drivers are invited, at no cost, to the Autocross Invitational Shoot-out (AxIS), where the season champion is decided. You don’t need us to tell you how much fun friendly driving competition is, do you?
There are three Open Enrollment Autocross Days remaining: Two on Saturday, October 8 (a 9:00 a.m. start and a 1:30 p.m. start), and Saturday, October 15 (9:00 a.m.).
You can purchase online a “seat” for any of the three remaining dates at https://tickets.limerock.com/
You are also welcome to call Ryan McIntosh, autocross manager, at 860.435.5000 (email is ryan@limerock.com).
The AxIS Shoot-out to crown the 2016 champion is Saturday, October 29, starting at noon, with tons of practice laps before the competition begins.
