FUN-FUELLED FAMILY FESTIVAL AT CHOLMONDELEY CASTLE
GreenThumb provides great activities for all-comers Mountain bikes, face painting, supercars, children’s craft workshop… Advance tickets on sale from as little as £20, kids go FREE
World Championship rallying returns to England later this month when Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire hosts its very first fun-fuelled RallyFest on Saturday 29 October.
Not since 1999 has Britain’s round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) ventured outside Wales, and this month’s eagerly-anticipated RallyFest provides those living in cities such as Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Stoke with their best chance for more than 15 years to experience what is one of the most spectacular motor sports on the planet.
Adding to the sense of occasion, the tyre-burning WRC speed test taking place on the Castle’s parkland tracks tops a full day of a great value family entertainment – a real bonus for those with children on half-term. When purchased in advance, adult tickets cost just £20 (including a glossy programme priced at £9) while admittance is FREE for accompanied children aged 15 and under. All those attending are promised more than eight hours of compelling attractions and activities.
Kenny Belaey is the biggest name in mountain bike trials and, thanks to his backer Red Bull, the Belgian multiple world champion is bringing his breathtaking stunt show to Cholmondeley. It’s not to be missed and well worth the ticket price on its own.
Younger visitors will also enjoy a host of interactive activities being provided totally FREE of charge by RallyFest supporter GreenThumb, the UK’s oldest, largest and most recommended lawn care service. Its fun-filled marque will include a Scalextric racetrack, face painting, a giant games area, a children’s craft workshop plus a selfie mirror and graffiti wall both with instant photos to take away. For the more eccentric, GreenThumb has also arranged some eye-catching lawn mower racing!
Other notable RallyFest highlights include parades of historic and legendary Group B rally cars, appearances by past WRC champions, autograph and selfie sessions with today’s WRC stars, supercar cavalcades, SuperMoto bike racing, big screen coverage, live commentary, a catering village, trade stalls, mini tanks and a funfair. There will also be a wonderful opportunity to take a memorable passenger ride in a number of eye-catching classic and sports cars provided by the Sporting Bears Motor Club. These will be raising funds for Ty Gobaith, the only children’s hospice in North Wales.
“It all adds up to a fantastic day out for all the family,” enthused Ben Taylor, managing director of Dayinsure Wales Rally GB. “The thrills of the World Rally Championship are coming back to England and the RallyFest at Cholmondeley will provide all-comers with a truly fabulous day out. There really is something for everyone. What’s more, with half-term in mind, children can come for free, while advance tickets priced at just £20 provide exceptional value for money.”
