BIRMINGHAM are through to the National League Grand Final after a 47-43 win at Cradley on Monday.The Brummies took a 16-point lead into the second leg and effectively put the tie beyond the Heathens with 5-1s in Heats 2 and 3.Ashley Morris raced to a 15-point maximum for the home side, who recorded 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15 but were unable to overcome the all-round strength of the Brummies.Tom Bacon scored 11 for the visitors and reserve Jack Smith added 10+3 as the Brummies set up a Final clash with Eastbourne.Birmingham manager Graham Drury said: “We weren't concentrating on the 16-point lead we already had, we wanted to get one over them once again and the boys were terrific.“It was another solid team performance and we couldn't be happier overall.“That was for the supporters of Birmingham Speedway; they turned out in huge numbers tonight and hopefully we can now kick on and bring home the silverware for them too!”Morris said: “Of course I'm happy with another unbeaten night but it doesn't mean as much when the team have lost.“We knew it was going to be tough on aggregate but thought we could at least get a win on the night, but it wasn't to be.“Birmingham were just way too strong for us in the end and fair play to them.”

WOLVERHAMPTON will bring the curtain down on an unforgettable 2016 campaign as they host the traditional Recycled Aggregate Services Olympique at Monmore Green on Tuesday.A bumper crowd is expected for the final night of the season as the Elite League Champions will proudly show off their hard-earned silverware around ten minutes before tapes up.The meeting features six of the title-winning septet along with ex-Wolves Ricky Wells, Adam Skornicki, Ludvig Lindgren and Tobias Musielak along with British stars Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls.Wolves skipper Fredrik Lindgren said: “The Olympique is always a really enjoyable meeting; not just for the riders but for the fans on the terraces as well.“It’s been an unbelievable week or so for me with everything that’s happened and it would mean a lot to me if I could go out and win the Olympique again.“It would be the perfect way to finish an amazing season with Wolverhampton and it will be nice to show the trophy off at Monmore Green in front of all our home fans.”

SHEFFIELD have turned to two familiar faces to help them in their Premier League play-off semi-final this week.The Owlerton stunned Newcastle in the previous round and now take on Glasgow on Thursday with former club men Ricky Wells and Josh Auty standing in for Jason Garrity and Dimitri Berge – whilst rider replacement will cover for their third sidelined rider, Simon Stead.Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We need all our fans to get down here and back the lads.“We’d like to welcome Ricky and Josh into the team, they’re good lads who go well around Owlerton so we feel we have a good chance of getting a lead from the first leg.“Thursday is a massive night for us all and we’re going for it!”

POOLE promoter Matt Ford will take a look at Polish youngster Adrian Cyfer when the Pirates host the Blue Riband individual on Friday.Cyfer was a member of the Gorzow championship-winning team in his home country and is considering racing in the UK in future.Ford said: “Adrian is a rider who is rapidly gaining a big reputation and he has been recommended to me by Krystian Plech who I have worked closely with in recent seasons. “Krystian has advised me that Adrian is now ready to broaden his horizons and is keen to try out a British career, and so with our big individual event taking place on Friday it made sense to invite Adrian along so that we can cast our eye over this budding talent.”(FIXTURES)
