SWEDISH star Jacob Thorssell was crowned the 2016 Recycled Aggregate Services Olympique Champion as Wolverhampton brought the curtain down on an unforgettable season. The 23-year-old beat team-mate Fredrik Lindgren in a two-man run-off to deny the Wolves skipper what would have been a record seventh event victory. Both riders had scored ten points in the meeting run on the handicap system, with Chris Harris in third place on nine.Thorssell said: “I know we won the gold medals at Belle Vue but I had a bad meeting there last week.“That made me even hungrier to end my year on a high and to win this meeting is a really good feeling.“Freddie made a little mistake in the run-off and I was in the right place at the right time to get past him. It really is an amazing way to finish the year off and now I'll just enjoy the winter!”

KING’S Lynn Young Stars will host Eastbourne in their final home meeting of the campaign on Wednesday. The home side are looking to end the year on a high and secure a top half finish in the National League, as they take on the Eagles who have already qualified for the Grand Final.King’s Lynn boss Dale Allitt sad: “It’s a strange time of the season as we’re racing at a time when the major titles have either been won or the main protagonists are known, and unfortunately we’re not one of them.“We will be racing for pride, preparing properly and doing what we always do with the same routine – maybe it’s a fixture Eastbourne could do without, but we’ll be keen to finish at home with a win.“Losing Josh (Bailey) with a broken collarbone was one of the big setbacks to our season, but I have to say Jon (Armstrong) has been fantastic as a guest and he gives us so much in the pits as well.”

GLASGOW star Richard Lawson insists it’s time to bounce back as the Tigers prepare to fight for the Premier League title. The Ashfield side lost the first leg of the League Cup Final at home to Somerset last weekend but are now preparing for their championship semi-final clash with Sheffield, and travel to Owlerton on Thursday.Lawson said: “Some of the guys were frustrated on Sunday, but you know, maybe a few of them were under a bit of pressure.“We wanted to win so badly and sometimes that pressure overcomes you. I'm sure the guys who struggled are beating themselves up.“But if we all ride to our capabilities we're good over two legs. I'll keep telling the boys that and reminding them of it.“There’s no reason why we can’t bounce back from this at Sheffield and hopefully take some good points there and carry that momentum into Friday (at Somerset).”(FIXTURES)
