Rounds 13-14: Pembrey, 16 October
Jack Layton secured the 2016 championship title at a very wet Pembrey circuit.
Starting from the second row of the grid alongside Gavin Bennett, Layton took things easy, knowing that a top-twelve finish would be enough.
While James O’Reilly and Gareth James were dicing for the lead in race one, Layton was content with sixth place as rival Bennett was in third. A win was required.
The conditions were no better the next day for race two and with the championship sewn up Layton didn’t take part. James took the lead on the opening lap and looked to be heading for victory until an engine sprocket came off as he started the last lap. This handed the win to a surprised Dan Clark. Race three was due to take place later in the day but the weather and track conditions worsened and it was deemed unsafe to continue by the officials.
