New IMSA Prototype Series Coming to Lime Rock for Northeast Grand Prix July 22
The IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda comes to LRP
These very cool prototypes are called LMP3s; they look like 7/8s-scale WEC prototypes (the LMP1 Toyotas and Porsches that compete at Le Mans), have big and loud V8s, and are raced for the most part by up-and-coming drivers just itchin’ to make a name for themselves.
The series is a two-class field – the new LMP3s run with the original open-top “MPC” Elan DP02s – and at Lime Rock we’ll likely see a great grid of nine LMP3 cars and 15 MPCs take the green at 12:50 on Saturday, July 22, for the 45-minute Continental Tire Road Race Challenge.
► The first race on Saturday the 22nd is the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge – the Grand Sport and Street Tuner classes – set for a green flag at 10:25, for two hours of fender banging action
► The third race of the day is the feature: The two-hour, 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech Northeast Grand Prix – GTLM, GTD and PC – which starts at 3:05
► For the IMSA races, Lime Rock’s new “Park Pavilion Pass” upgrade will be located in the Outfield. Click here for details
► The Northeast Grand Prix Car Corrals are: American Muscle, Corvette, Mini and Porsche. BMW owners: Call us and we'll connect you with the BMWCCA for a special deal!
► When you’re here, be sure to check out the Midway in the upper infield. We are pulling together a very cool display of race cars significant to Lime Rock’s 60 year history, including important – iconic – old school IMSA machinery. More details to come...
