As calendar announced
Registration is now open for the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season, which marks its 18th campaign as the region’s premier one-make series, supporting three FIA Formula One World Championship rounds and visiting five world-class venues over seven race weekends.
The revised calendar features the all-new Hanoi Street Circuit, with Carrera Cup Asia supporting Formula 1’s highly-anticipated Vietnamese Grand Prix, and returns to the Chinese and Singapore Grands Prix, alongside races in Buriram and Bangsaen.
After the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia campaign, which was won by Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Young Professional Philip Hamprecht (Overall) and Bao Jinlong (Pro-Am) at the Shanghai finale last weekend, the series once again demonstrated why it’s a favourite among both pro drivers looking to further their Porsche careers and gentlemen racers.
Utilising the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991 II), the series will expand to three classes in 2020, with drivers set to battle throughout the grid for overall, Pro-Am and Am honours, enabling experienced and new gentlemen racers to go head-to-head against their peers.
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia has a proven history of supporting young and aspiring drivers with its exclusive motorsport talent development programme - Talent Pool. Open to those aged 16-26, the Talent Pool gives future stars the opportunity to train with Porsche champions, as well as provide a host of financial benefits, including a free entry fee for 2021.
Many established drivers have entered Porsche Carrera Cup Asia during their racing careers, including Porsche factory ace Earl Bamber, multi-discipline star Chris van der Drift, and 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 class winner Ho-Pin Tung.
With more than 9 million viewers live streaming the races in 2019, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship also provides entrants with an excellent platform to promote themselves and share every thrilling experience.
All entries will receive technical and logistical support at the races, as well as benefiting from Porsche’s global marketing and PR throughout the year.
