The European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) the promoter of the championship, in consultation with the FIA and the local race organiser have decided to postpone the 2020 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season-opening event.
In light of the rising number of cases of COVID-19 across Europe and the measures imposed to counteract and contain the spread of the virus, which include travel restrictions and restrictions of sporting events with large crowds and spectators in close proximity, it will no longer be possible for the FIA ETRC season-opener in Budapest, Hungary to go ahead on the scheduled date of 25-26 April 2020.
The new date for the race in Hungary has been set as 13/14 June 2020, subject to FIA confirmation.
The season opener at the Hungaroring was originally set to share the race weekend with the FIA WTCR. Despite all efforts it wasn’t possible though to find a new suitable combined date.
“With the growing number of COVID-19 cases across Europe, together with the FIA and the local race organisers we have decided to postpone the first race of the season to protect the health and safety of championship participants, staff and spectators,” said ETRA managing director Rolf Werner.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely with the relevant authorities and race organisers.” Full refunds will be made to all existing ticket holders. Please contact your ticket agent or office directly.
