A factory prototype 1956 Maserati A6G/54 Spider became the top sale of the auction house’s online event.
Gooding & Company, the auction house revered for selling the world’s most desirable and prized collector cars, achieved $9,284,031 at its October 2020 Geared Online auction. The company achieved an overall 77% sales rate from 51 of 66 lots sold, with three vehicles selling over $1 million.
Gooding & Company delivered a diverse lineup of collector cars, from early classics to modern supercars, as well as a carefully curated selection of automobilia for the five-day online only sale. The 1956 Maserati A6G/54 Spider garnered $1,892,000, becoming the most valuable car sold at the five-day sale. Mercedes-Benz and Ferraris rounded out the highest sales with the 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso selling for $1,430,000, and a flawless 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing saw bidding placed up until the very last seconds, before ultimately selling for $1,254,000.
The company’s offering of automobilia saw an exceptional 100% sell-through rate. The 1990 Claude Botin 250 Testa Rossa Child’s Car sparked a thrilling bidding war before ultimately selling for $30,625.
