Absolute Racing Confirm Le Mans 24 Hour Line-Up

Absolute Racing has announced Marco Seefried as part of their 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans line-up, joining Andrew Haryanto and Alessio Picariello in the No. 18 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 RSR GTE-AM category entry.

This trio raced together in the opening round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, finishing fifth in the GTE-AM class, and will return to the championship before the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 6 Hours of Monza weekend on July 18 with a Proton Competition-run Porsche 911 RSR.

“The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the biggest endurance race in the world, and obviously a real highlight on our racing calendar,” said Team Director Ingo Matter. “Marco is a valuable asset to have in the team as he brings a huge amount of experience. We'll be trying for the best possible finish, but the most important thing is to run clean and take advantage of any possibilities that present themselves. With a little luck on our side, we should be able to return home with a good result.”

“The 6 Hours of Spa had been an excellent preparation for us. The team is a great fit for me. Alessio and Marco are two great drivers and they are helping me to understand the car and achieve my goal of challenging myself against some of the very best amateur GT drivers in the world. I’m looking forward to competing for the very first time in Monza in July before the big one”, said Indonesia’s Andrew Haryanto.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Alessio Picariello added, “It’s a dream come true to go to Le Mans for the first time and going there with Absolute Racing makes it extra special because of our history together. I’m excited to share the car with Andrew and Marco as we enjoyed a very good first experience together in Spa and it can only get better. I’m really looking forward.”

Germany’s Marco Seefried remarked, “I am really happy and proud to be part of this Absolute Racing’s WEC campaign. During our first weekend in Spa, I was impressed with Andrew Haryanto's progress in improving his speed and handling traffic. Based on that, as well as Alessio's speed and my own long-term endurance racing experience, and Absolute Racing and Proton-Competition history, I'm certain that we've assembled a strong squad for the big one at Le Mans”.

The car’s livery and team’s partners will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks.

Absolute Racing are the only Mainland China entry in this year’s race. The 2021 24 Heures du Mans is scheduled for Saturday, August 21st.
