Originally produced as a factory 930 Turbo, this 1984 Porsche has been professionally converted to 934/5 race car specification. Commenced in 2012, the conversion represents an investment of approximately $200,000 in track-mandated safety equipment and top-of-the-line performance upgrades. Porsche pulled out all the stops in transforming the production 930 Turbo into its world-beating 934/5 race cars, and this conversion follows that daring blueprint with exacting accuracy.

To begin the conversion, the body was stripped and fitted with an AIR 934/5 fiberglass body conversion kit and completely refinished in white in keeping with Porsche factory racing practice. Headlining the mechanical specifications is the Porsche air-cooled 3.3L engine, which was modified with an original and very rare 935 crankshaft, tuned cylinder heads, Ross pistons, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and electronic ignition, and a K29 turbocharger. Mated to a Porsche 4-speed manual gearbox and a racing limited-slip differential, the turbo flat-6 is rated at a towering 690 HP at 1.0 bar of boost. The host of racing modifications also includes an ATL 120L fuel cell, a custom-fabricated oil reservoir tank, Kevlar fuel lines, Porsche 928 S-4 front brake calipers and Bilstein adjustable coilover shock absorbers. The car’s Toyo 245/45 ZR16 front and 335/30 ZR18 rear tires are mounted on custom-built center-lock Monodado wheels fitted to converted wheel hubs.

The thorough conversion to 934/5 specs included stripping the cockpit of all extraneous weight and optimizing it for racing with the installation of a Sassa homologated roll bar, Tillet carbon fiber lollipop seats, a Fabcar billet shifter and a MOMO racing steering wheel. Knowledgeable Porsche enthusiasts will appreciate that the car was recently prepared for both show and racing by Willison Werkstat in West Palm Beach, Florida, which is widely renowned for specializing in Porsche and other historic race car restorations, engine rebuilding, tuning and vintage/historic race weekend and concours preparation.
