The Hilton Group – known for its classic restoration work and manufacturer-approved coachworks, has officially opened an all-new cutting-edge three-storey facility, providing showrooms, concierge-style car storage, workshops and a roof terrace. The modern and luxurious new building joins existing Hilton Group buildings on the site in Bishop’s Stortford, bringing the total amount of floor space to over 100,000 sq/ft.

A two-storey showroom sits proudly at the front of the new facility, displaying models from the in-house classic car restoration and sales business, Hilton & Moss, as well as modern sports cars from Lotus and TVR. Behind each of the showrooms are workshops providing 30 bays across two floors, growing the Hilton Group’s ability to facilitate all types of repairs. A custom-built car ramp provides access to the first floor where more complex repair jobs are undertaken.

The Hilton Group incorporates a number of businesses, including a body repair operation that is the largest manufacturer-approved repair facility in the UK. Alongside the coachworks, classic car specialist Hilton & Moss operates state-of-the-art facilities that allow for complete restoration projects to be undertaken entirely in-house. There are dedicated body and mechanical workshops, a commercial spray booth and a specialist engine building department.

Paintwork is a Hilton & Moss specialty, with concours-quality finishes in modern water-based paints as well as traditional – and original – two-pack and cellulose. Paintwork is overseen by Hilton Group owner Peter Hilton and a team of restoration experts. Bodywork and metal fabrication is handled by a team with over 100 years of combined experience. The culmination of all of this experience has led to Hilton & Moss completing a number of award-winning restorations, establishing a reputation for concours event preparation. Its restoration work has been displayed throughout the globe, including at blue chip collector car events like Salon Privé.

A Mercedes-Benz 190SL, restored by Hilton & Moss for model David Gandy, formed part of the line-up at a recent edition of the prestigious London Concours and placed 1st at warrant concours. A Mercedes-Benz 190SL for former Formula 1 driver Max Chilton and a Mercedes-Benz 190SL once owned by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.

The third storey of the new facility is occupied by the new Hilton Car Storage business, providing a comprehensive storage solution catering for classic, sports and supercars of all kinds. With a highly secure, humidity and temperature-controlled environment designed for the sole purpose of vehicle storage, the storage facility is equipped with the latest fire and security systems, including round-the-clock CCTV monitoring. For ultimate peace-of-mind, fully comprehensive insurance cover is provided for all vehicles. The upper deck also features an extensive roof terrace, available for customers and special events.

Hilton Car Storage operates a concierge-style service, meaning the on-site team can maintain and service stored vehicles, valet and detail them, manage their sale or sourcing and even arrange international transportation for a vehicle. For owners with large collections of cars, Hilton Car Storage can provide a full collection management service.

The Hilton Group Founder, Peter Hilton, said: “This new facility is the future of our business, perfectly encapsulating everything we do here at the Group. The new state-of-the-art showrooms are the ideal showcase for our perfect restoration work at Hilton & Moss – as well as TVR and Lotus models as part of Car Sales – our two-storey 30-bay workshop further extends our reputation as the largest manufacturer-approved repair facility in the UK, and Hilton Car Storage showcases our absolute passion and attention to detail. More than that, though, we wanted to create a real destination for car enthusiasts in the South East and beyond.”
