Car & Classic’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations: one car for each year
Unique display of seventy years of British automotive manufacturing
Car & Classic’s chosen vehicles star on the “Long Walk” to Windsor Castle
Online classic and niche vehicle marketplace Car & Classic has proudly gathered seventy vehicles, representing each year of Her Majesty’s reign, to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
Dotting the “Long Walk” leading to the Castle, the chosen vehicles are part of a unique exhibition marking seven decades of motoring history, each and every one of them showing the best of British engineering and innovation during the ‘Jubilee Party at The Park’, Windsor Castle, on Saturday 4 June.
“We were honoured to be asked to support the event by supplying vehicles from 1952 to 2022, hailing seventy years of motoring history,” says Car & Classic Head of Editorial Chris Pollitt.
“Of course, one of the marques traditionally favoured by the Royal family features high on our list: the 1952 car is a Land Rover Series One 80 inch and the most modern is a Land Rover Defender,” continues Pollitt. “Aston Martin’s presence is secured by a DB2/4 followed by DB4, DB6 Vantage Volante, V8, DB7 GT and a V12 Vantage.”
From the humble MG Midget and Princess Anne’s favourite, the Reliant Scimitar, to one of the ultimate British sportscars, the McLaren GT, Car & Classic’s list is a nod to British manufacturing prowess and history. It is not a coincidence that the auction of a 1993 Rover Sterling with strong Royal connections starts during the same weekend on Car & Classic’s online auction site.
Donations from this event will support the Prince Philip Trust Fund which makes a real difference to the quality of life of people from communities across the extensive area of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, focusing particularly on giving support towards disability, health, the elderly, families, children and young people, those in social need and the arts
