This summer’s perfect fun-fuelled family festival staycation
Bumper line-up of attractions and activities for all ages
Packed programme of on and off-track entertainment
Free admission for accompanied children aged under 16
As we reflect on the incredible celebrations to honour Her Majesty The Queen’s remarkable Platinum Jubilee over one very special Bank Holiday, our attentions turn to the next Bank Holiday on the UK calendar which comes at the end of August when, at Silverstone, we’ll be celebrating ‘The Best of British’ at The Classic.
First staged in 1990, The Classic has an unrivalled heritage and this year – for the first time in its own glittering history – the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival will be revving up to close-out the summer holidays in spectacular style at Silverstone (26-28 August).
Ensuring the award-winning extravaganza takes full advantage of its exciting new Bank Holiday date, the pace-setting three-day festival will feature not only a packed programme of 20 epic races covering all of motor sport’s golden eras but also more fun-fuelled entertainment for the entire family to enjoy than ever before.
And with free admission for accompanied children aged under 16, The Classic is fast becoming the perfect destination for a memorable Bank Holiday staycation. Not only will there be fabulous automotive nostalgia to enjoy on and off the track, but there’s also a packed line-up of attractions and activities over three amazing days for younger members of the family to enjoy too.
There are stunt shows in the Shift & Drift Zone, race simulators and a pit-stop challenge in the Adrenaline Zone, crazy golf and fun fair rides on the buzzing Village Green, a Football Skills Zone courtesy of event partner, Yokohama, and it’s all provided within the ticket price. There’s also the chance for those aged between 10 and 17 years old to get behind the wheel for the very first time with the ever-popular Young Driver* experience.
Guaranteeing there’s lots for everyone to savour at Silverstone, The Classic this year also boasts three evenings of live music from chart-toppers that include Sister Sledge, Gabrielle and Rick Astley as well as a mouth-watering Foodie Fest, the Switch Live feature powered by myenergi, and there’s a Shopping Village too.
The new Foodie Fest will serve up cooking masterclasses and Q&As from top chefs, the very first ‘pop-up’ outlet from Jeremy Clarkson’s iconic Diddly Squat Farm Shop, and there will also be a spotlight on local producers with an artisan market.
With one eye on the future, Switch Live will provide festival-goers with the opportunity to test drive a number of the latest generation of electric cars.
There are countless other highlights, too, over the bustling Bank Holiday weekend. The Classic will host a world exclusive with all seven of Lewis Hamilton’s title-winning cars on display together for the very first time as a tribute to the incredible achievements of home talent in the pinnacle of motor sport, Formula One. There will also be more than 100 car clubs out in force displaying thousands of cherished marque models from yesteryear.
“There really is something special for everyone at The Classic this summer,” enthused Nick Wigley, CEO of The Classic promoter Goose Live Events. “Maximising our new Bank Holiday date, we have widened The Classic’s appeal even further to deliver five star entertainment for all the family. And, with overseas travel continuing to present challenges, a fun-fuelled staycation at the home of British motor sport would seem the perfect solution.”
Providing exceptionally good value, all tickets for The Classic not only include free admission for accompanied children aged under 16 but also access to the Foodie Fest, the live music, Switch Live, both racing paddocks and open trackside grandstand seating plus the fun fair rides, stunt shows, and interactive demos.
