Sporting & Historic Car Engineers Ltd bought by Sports Purpose Ltd

Sporting & Historic Car Engineers Limited announces that it has been bought by historic Porsche specialists Sports Purpose Limited, effective immediately

The company established by Tim Samways in 1989 has long been regarded as one of the UK’s premier historic racing businesses and has achieved great success over the years, perhaps most famously taking the first win by a Ferrari in the Goodwood Revival Meeting RAC Tourist Trophy race in 2008.

Tim will be retiring but will retain a role with the company as a consultant engineer, helping with the many projects that he has initiated.

“I have been presented with a wonderful opportunity for the team not only to continue in name, but to be able to move forward with a new owner, James Turner.  I have known James for many years and he has the vision to build on our existing business.

I look forward to retirement, safe in the knowledge that SHC will flourish with its new ownership.”

James Turner, Sports Purpose founder, commented: “Tim and his company are synonymous with historic racing and the highest quality cars. We have been looking for some time for the right opportunity to expand our business and are thrilled to have the chance to work with Tim and the team at Greatworth.

We will continue to work with our closest partners in the Porsche world while building on Tim’s legacy and growing the Porsche side of the business in due course. We fully recognise the responsibility that we have and are excited for the future.”
