New Beijing Street Circuit for 2025 GT World Challenge Asia

E-Town Tongming Lake Park provides spectacular backdrop to title decider

The brand-new Beijing Street Circuit will complete 2025’s GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS calendar.

Next year’s provisional schedule was first revealed in late June, albeit with only China listed as the finale’s destination. Now SRO Motorsports Group can reveal its exciting plans for October 17-19 when GT World Challenge Asia takes to the streets for the first time in its history. 

 

The 4.9-kilometre-long, eight-turn track uses public roads to wind its way between modern architecture and the Tongming Lake Park in Beijing’s picturesque Economic-Technological Development Area known as E-Town. Existing structures will also be utilised to provide state-of-the-art facilities for teams, officials and media.

 

It is the work of world-leading motorsport consultants, Apex Circuit Design, which has managed and delivered several similar projects across China, Asia and further afield – including the Miami Grand Prix venue – over the last two decades. 

 

Safety has been a central pillar to the Beijing Street Circuit’s design process since conception. Several run-off areas in key locations will allow drivers of all abilities to push their limits, while the track itself is significantly larger at its narrowest and widest sections than regional contemporaries in Singapore and Baku.

 

The project was revealed earlier today at the Beijing Smart Esports Event Center in Beijing where GT World Challenge Asia General Manager Benjamin Franassovici joined Beijing Street Circuit’s founder, Zou Sirui, on stage.

 

This will not be the first time that an SRO-organised championship has raced on China’s streets: Zhuhai’s public roads hosted the BPR Global GT Series in 1994 and 1995 before switching to the city’s then-new purpose-built circuit. The FIA GT1 World Championship also held a demonstration outside the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in 2011.

 

Beijing Street Circuit will become the first street circuit to host GT World Challenge Asia since the championship’s establishment in 2017.

GT World Challenge Asia’s 12-round 2025 campaign begins at Sepang on April 11-13 before visiting Mandalika in Indonesia for the first time. Further events at Chang, Fuji and Okayama then follow ahead of Beijing’s season finale.
