This coming bank holiday weekend will see the third round of the Hel Performance British Motostar Standard Class championship at Oulton Park situated in Cheshire. Only two weeks after reaching the podium twice at Brands Hatch the Case Moto Rapido Moto3 team and Thomas are ready to continue their podium form.
Oulton Park appears twice on the 2017 season calendar; this coming weekend and later on this year in September. Due to the local surroundings around the circuit, the track action is shorter than usual meaning this weekend sees only one race held but allowing for more practice sessions to get a good race setup.
Thomas is now situated 2nd in the Championship; 33 points behind 1st, and a 9 point gap to 3rd, with 4th closely following 2 points behind that. This weekend is crucial to extend his gap and close in on 1st position.
The planned race schedule will have Thomas on track during Saturday's practice sessions at 10:10–10:30 and then at 14:10–14:30 in the afternoon. Sunday will start with track action from 12:00 and Thomas having a short practice session at 12:50–13:05 before getting out for Qualifying at 15:00–15:25. Bank Holiday Monday will have morning warm-up at 10.10 – 10.18, pitlane walk at 11:20-12:20 and the only race of the weekend in the afternoon at 14.55.
Thomas’ thoughts heading into round three:
“After two solid finishes at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, I’m keen to get straight out to work on some new changes with the bike. Oulton Park is a brilliant circuit and I’m really pleased the extra free practice track time will allow us to get some back to back sessions in before we Qualify and then Race. I know I can do it, and the team are behind me the whole way.“
Case Moto Rapido Moto3 team manager, Iain Hopcroft added:
“Really excited for Oulton park mainly because it happens to be my favourite place to ride, it's technical and fun. We have resolved some technical issues from Brands and look to see Thomas on that top step this weekend”
