NISMO fourth in Super GT race at Fuji Speedway

The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 of Ronnie Quintarelli and Tsugio Matsuda finished fourth in last week's mid-week Super GT battle at Fuji International Speedway.

The 500km battle is held as part of Japan's annual "Golden Week" celebrations and is the second longest Super GT race of the year.

Ronnie Quintarelli starred in qualifying for Nissan by putting the No. 23 MOTUL AUTCH entry on the front row in second.

Quintarelli took the start before handing the car over to Matsuda mid-race and then returning the wheel to Quintarelli for the final stretch. From the start, Quintarelli was hot on the heels of the pole sitter and stayed on his tail for several laps, but after a while he began to lose pace and fell back to fourth.

After a strong stint by Matsuda, Quintarelli got back in the car in fifth place and made a pass back to P4 before the checkered flag.

Starting from the back of the grid, the No. 46 S Road Craftsports GT-R (Satoshi Motoyama / Katsumasa Chiyo) and No. 24 Forum Engineering ADVAN GT-R (Daiki Sasaki / Joao Paulo de Oliveira) both received drive through penalties. The #12 Calsonic Impul GT-R (Hironobu Yasuda / Jann Mardenborough) also fell back due to some unforeseen issues. They finished the race 11th, 12th and 14th respectively.

Super GT will return to Autopolis for the next round on May 21, returning to the venue they had to skip last year due to earthquake damage.
