This weekend will be host to round 5 of the Hel Performance British Motostar Standard class championship at the Snetterton 300 circuit. Located near Thetford, the circuit is a historical venue on the British calendar due to its past as an RAF airfield in the war. The venue has since undergone many developments to turn the track into a fast combination of long straights and a wide variety of turns. This means it's crucial to carry the speed down the long straights and through the corners to complete the 3-mile circuit.
With Knockhill less than two weeks ago, proving that Thomas could be at the front in his class, and with his past success at this circuit and brilliant test day earlier on in the year, we hope this will allow Thomas to be fast straight from the first day. Thomas still holds the lap record on the KTM British Junior Cup bike from two years ago, and this weekend he plans to increase his record count by setting the Standard Class record as well.
Thomas is currently 3rd in the Championship; with a 6 point gap to 2nd.
This weekend will see Thomas on track during Friday's practice sessions at 10.15 – 10.45 and then at 14.40 – 15.10 in the afternoon. Saturday will continue with qualifying at 10.00 – 10.30 and then a race in the afternoon at 15.30. Sunday will have morning warm-up at 10.08 – 10.18, pitlane walk at 11.50 – 12.25 and the second race of the weekend in the afternoon at 14.55.
Thomas’ thoughts heading into round five:
“I absolutely love Snetterton as a circuit and have always enjoyed riding there; our test earlier in the year was brilliant and even though we had extremely high winds throughout the day I still beat some personal best lap times. Since then we’ve made many updates to the bike heading into this round which I’m really looking forward to trying! I’m learning every time out on the bike and I know I have a few things that work for me around this circuit so I’m looking forward to getting back out. I’m happy and confident.“
Case Moto Rapido Moto3 team manager, Iain Hopcroft added:
“We are very excited for the Snetterton round after a positive test session earlier this year. With some more updates with the bike and Thomas loving the circuit we expect to have a great weekend as this means only one thing!”
