Harry King graduates to Ginetta GT4 Supercup

Rising star Harry King will take his racing career to the next level this year after confirming a move up to the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup for the 2018 season.

The 17-year-old from Holyport will graduate into the series on the back of a two-year stint in the Ginetta Junior Championship; the premier series in the UK for young stars of the future taking their first steps into motorsport.

Making his debut in the series in 2016, Harry took two wins and three additional podiums during his rookie campaign en-route to an impressive eighth place in the championship.

Last season, a further nine visits to the podium – including a stunning victory at Knockhill – saw Harry end the year in sixth place; with his results through the closing rounds of the campaign being particularly impressive.

Having evaluated his options for the season ahead, Harry will remain on the support package to the British Touring Car Championship for a third year as he graduates into Ginetta’s GT4 Supercup.

Harry will move to the next step on Ginetta’s motorsport ladder alongside his Elite Motorsport team, which will also be competing in the series for the first time.

The GT4 Supercup season will be fought across eight meetings and 23 races, with Harry battling for the opportunity to earn a factory supported programme – and a Driver Development role - with the Yorkshire manufacturer.

"I'm delighted to be moving up to the Ginetta GT4 Supercup this season and I'd like to think I can be on the pace from the start," he said.

"Being a new team in what is a very competitive championship, we will all be learning together, but I have complete faith in the people around me to get the job done. I certainly don't feel that I'm at any disadvantage compared to anyone else on the grid because I know the Elite Motorsport guys will not stop working until we reach the ultimate goal, which is winning.

"I'd like to thank Ginetta, Elite Motorsport, Entire Race Engineering, Corbeau, 1BR, Workspace, Fanatical and St James Club for helping me get on the grid and I can't wait to get started."

Harry’s season will get underway at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 7/8 April.
