Czech driver Staněk will join Red Bull juniors Jak Crawford and Ayumu Iwasa in Hitech’s 2021 FIA Formula 3 campaign. He will also partner Reece Ushijima and Iwasa in the FIA Asian Formula 3 Championship, set to take place in the UAE later this month.
A strong 2019 saw Staněk win the rookie title in the ADAC Formula 4 championship and fifth in Italian F4, scoring three wins and a further six podiums across the two series, as he retained status as a Sauber Junior. Last year saw the 16-year-old racer step up to the FIA F3 Championship, finishing 21st in the standings.
The 2021 Asian F3 Championship is set to get underway later this month at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome across five rounds. Seven rounds will encompass this year’s FIA F3 Championship, with the season opener taking place on 7th May at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Hitech finished fourth in the Teams’ Championship last season, scoring three wins and six podiums overall.
Roman Staněk reflected on his signing with Hitech:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Hitech in FIA F3 and Asian F3. The Asian F3 season opener will get underway in a couple of weeks, so I am looking forward to getting back out in the car after a long break. I’m really excited to work with a new team and will be putting in the hard work for a successful season.”
Hitech Team Principal, Oliver Oakes, added: “We are delighted to have Staněk on board as we embark on what we hope will be another successful season. We always look forward to working with new drivers, and Staněk has shown the talent required in FIA F3 and Asian F3.”
