As early as 1987, Porsche had announced the end of production on the G model 911s as well as the end of all turbo models. It appeared they were putting most of their efforts into the new front engine V-8 models, which makes this highly equipped 930 Turbo an amazing find and a rare example of their highest performance model to date. A total of 1,945 Porsche 930s were imported to the U.S. in 1989; only 147 of them were Slantnoses, of which just 34 were coupes. Well-documented and highly equipped Porsches are definitely getting harder to find, and this lovely 930 Turbo has all of the most desirable features in place. In the day, many believed the 1989 930 Turbos to be the last of a very special breed of brutally fast and aggressive looking Porsches with no follow-up model to replace them.
This lovely car was ordered with the following options: M505 slantnose, electric sliding sunroof, shorter gear shift lever, limited slip differential, lumbar support left seat, radio with CD player, amplifier system and U.S. standard emission equipment. It was sold new in Hawaii, as verified by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity that is included with the car, and then made its way to California in 1993.The original black leather interior is in beautiful condition, and everything is in working order with the exception of the clock which is still correct twice each day. As documented, this car was completed on March 9th, 1989. It remains in factory condition throughout with just 37,568 original miles.
This Slantnose 930 sports its original color of Guards Red, which is beautiful in every sense of the word, with immaculate fit and finish throughout. The car rides on the proper 17-inch Porsche two-piece wheels that are truly stunning. The wheels are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. In addition, a Camber Truss Stable Energies Porsche Performance bar was added between the strut towers for better handling.
The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout and is home to the original matching-numbers 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine with 282 horsepower. The engine runs out well and sounds excellent through a custom high-performance exhaust. The engine is coupled to the original matching-numbers G50 five-speed transmission - 1989 being the only year the G50 five-speed transmission was offered, making it very desirable among collectors. The CARFAX® report shows no accidents and also indicates that, due to being recovered following theft in 1991 with 971 miles, the title bears a reconstructed designation and can be titled and registered in all 50 states. An $11,000 service was completed at a Porsche dealership less than 100 miles ago and all invoices are included. The undercarriage is very clean throughout, retaining all the factory paint marks and stickers. The trunk compartment is likewise very neat, and the original owner’s manuals, tool kit and other miscellaneous original items are included. There is literally nothing to do but turn the key and enjoy one of the most desirable high-performance Porsches of the era.
Cosmetically alluring, mechanically sorted, and highly original, this low-mileage Slantnose Turbo can easily be enjoyed by your family as a show car and a performance car and will certainly be a highlight of driving enjoyment for many Porsche enthusiasts and collectors. These final-year 930 Slantnose Turbos became classics the moment deliveries began, and today, they remain one of the most sought-after 911 variants ever offered by Porsche.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has a reconstructed title due to it being a recovered theft in 1991 with 971 miles. The CARFAX® report shows no accidents. It can be titled and registered in all 50 states.
